![]() Despite it being rainy and cloudy, it was spectacular. You hold your breath when you get to the top. We took the hike that was literally right behind our cabin into the mountains and it was not super easy, which was great! It was breathtaking…literally. They offered us a nice bottle of white wine for consolation and it worked a little. Yes, you read that right! However, our luck was down that day because it was raining and they cannot set it up in the rain. We knew we wanted something else special but didn’t know what it was until we saw they have an adult bouncy house. We knew we wanted a hot tub and they have an outdoor hot tub, which was glorious. We chose this resort because of location and the things it offers it’s guests. It had everything we needed for making dinner and pretty much anything else we needed, it was fully stocked. We used the small table and chairs to set up her cake and present area and it worked perfectly. We only used the bunk beds and queen bed and they were so cozy and comfortable! It’s one very large room with the living room and kitchen separated by a heavy curtain if you’d like. The room was spotless clean and very eclectic and yet modern. The Aztec cabin has a queen size bed with a set of bunk beds and a pull out sofa. You couldn’t tell though, it was very quiet and serene. And you would think it would’ve been a little slow there, nope, they were packed out. We wanted to do something special for our lovely bride and knew she only had limited time away so we just booked 1 night. We booked cabin 3, The Aztec cabin for a bridal shower and slumber party for 4 best friends. Everyone in Colorado is very friendly and a little slower than we are used to! The check-in process was funny because we were in such a hurry to get to our room and set it up for the surprise shower and the host was SO friendly and talkative that it took longer than we we’re expecting. But I cannot help myself to review them because we had such a good time and would love to go back some day! But hang on, because this might get long…but well worth the read! We have very loyal guests who have become friends indeed.I’m sure this mountain resort doesn’t need my good review as they have so many 5 star reviews as it is, they are booked so far in advance. I want people to know that we have literally hundreds and hundreds of compliments from people who have stayed at Pine Haven. As they said, there are more modern accommodations available in this great Rocky Mountain National Park area, namely condos. In summation, I wish the guests who wrote the review, well. Families have been fascinated for decades by the sense of history that it invokes. That, my friend, is an historical monument, never to be taken away. As to the "smell" I am very offended, because the only "smell" could be the residuals from a fire from the huge stone fireplace in the cabin Regarding the comment about the bear trap, that display of a wire enclosure surrounding 4 trees with a light bulb fixture embedded into the tree trunk is the original signage dating back to 1960. We use environmentally friendly cleaning products, and we change out the shower curtains once every 2 weeks. I will say we have a hardworking staff which takes their job seriously and has pride in their work, and they enjoy interacting with our guests. As to the cleanliness, I must defer to the guests as they were there. It only takes 5 minutes for the heaters, brand new as of 2006, to heat up the cabin. Was the cabin cold when the guests arrived? I don't know. Regarding this review here are the facts. I want each and every guest to thoroughly enjoy Pine Haven. It reminds us of an Austrian village." I was saddened to see such a pejorative report on TripAdvisor. People from all over the world have thrilled staying at Pine Haven, some from Europe saying, "We traveled all over the U.S. These include adding wood flooring, building a gazebo and hot tub area, constructing a beautiful basketball court, flagstone patios, aspen log beds, all new outdoor Amish wood furniture, and unique interior decorating. We have added many amenities, both inside the cabins and outside. Each year we endeavor to make Pine Haven even more enjoyable for our great guests. They have been 4 of the best years we have experienced. ![]() My wife Joan and I have owned Pine Haven for 4 years.
